Residential Solar Systems
A solar electric system is an investment that will add both
immediate and long-term value to your home. Our systems can save
you a substantial amount on your utility bills from the very
first day it's installed. In fact, our research shows that
customers' bills decreased by 73%, on average, after modules
were installed
Our systems allow you to be your own utility company, protecting
you from rate increases. Depending on the size of the system you
choose, you may even produce enough energy to sell back to the
utility company, further reducing your energy cost. If you ever
decide to sell your home, research shows that buyers are willing
to pay a premium for a home with a solar module.
A solar system also allows you to make a positive impact on the
environment. Because you're creating clean, renewable energy,
you're reducing harmful greenhouse gas emissions and improving
air quality, which benefits all of us.
Solar systems provide numerous financial and environmental
benefits. Governments and utilities now offer incentives
encouraging homeowners to adopt this technology. New Jersey, for
example, has many programs such as rebates, tax credits, and the
Solar Renewable Energy Certificate Program (SREC).
How Your Residential Solar System Works
Your home will use energy produced by your system, but it
will remain connected to your utility. If your home uses more
electricity than you generate, power will automatically be drawn
from your utility. If you produce more electricity than you
need, your meter will actually spin backwards and the excess
will be sold to the utility for an automatic credit towards your
next bill. Whether the electricity is from your solar system or
from the utility, your home will continue to run smoothly.
1.Solar modules convert sunlight to direct current (DC)
electricity.
2.The inverter converts solar electricity (DC) into household
current (AC)
3.The utility meter spins forward when you draw electricity from
the utility and backwards when your solar system generates more
electricity than you're using.

Tax Credit for Homeowners
Residential Solar Investment Tax Credit (IR
Code S25D). The bill extends the 30% ITC for residential solar
property for eight years through December 31, 2016. It also
removes the cap on qualified solar electric property
expenditures (currently $2,000), effective for property placed
in service after December 31, 2008. The bill allows individual
taxpayers to use the credit to offset AMT liability, and to
carry unused credits forward to the next succeeding taxable
year. The $2,000 monetary cap on solar water heating property
was not lifted and remains in effect.
